What things have you made or built with your own two hands?

I consider myself a wanna-be finish carpenter. I have a wood shop set up in my garage where I have built a kitchen island complete with wood chopping block top, a bar, a mantle for my fire place, 2 cutting boards, a coffee table for a friend, a fish tank stand, also for a friend, and a few other items.

To date I have only cut one finger which healed up nicely, thank you. Although it did have me scared to approach my table saw for a couple of weeks.

I used to love table saws and wood-working. I sucked at it, but I loved it. Show a pic of something you made!

I'm not the most creative person, however i do like to enhance or create things sometimes. I once had this little toolkit when i was a bit younger, which had in it a saw, nails, etc etc. With a few wood planks, some building blocks and a lick of paint, i managed to create a little garage/mutli-storey carpark which was pretty cool. Used to play with toy cars on it [= I had help off my mum, too. Unfortunately that was a while ago so i no longer have it.

Also when i did art in highschool i did some artwork and made a mask etc. I never got my best piece back though :( and i don't really think the others are anything worth sharing.

I made you, son.

I also do carpentry, metalworking, and computer design, among other things.

I helped build an FRC robot, if that counts. Robotics is pure sex.

As I previously mentioned, I am a wanna-be carpenter. I was playing with a new camera today and took a couple of pics. Please ignore the fact that I need to get off my ass and clean house. Also keep in mind that I am still learning this stuff so try to not be too critical. If you do have a good idea to offer though, please feel free to share.

When I first bought this house, the fireplace was a fugly pink brick with a cheesy pre-fab mantle. I decided to tile the fireplace and still am second guessing the tiles I chose. I am somewhat pleased though with the design I came up with for the mantle. Never seen one quite like this anywhere.

This bar used to be a solid wall between the kitchen and living room. I didn't like that so I made this....

So....ummm...there ya go

I think the fireplace looks fantastic, except for the tile you used on the shelf over the Mantle. I would've used the same trim as you have framing it. Other than that, I think it looks great. Of course, you should also probably think about painting the rest of the room. Sorry if I sound like I have no idea what I'm talking about, it's because I don't. Just my opinions.

Actually, that is a fresh paint job. Did I miss a spot?

Oh. I would've went a few shades darker.

I chose that shade because I also added an accent wall that is several shades darker of that color. I see it looks kinds blue in that pic. It's actually a seafoam green. Actually looks pretty good when you view the whole room.

I've made a few pinewood derby cars.

Well, I helped.

Which is to say I watched my dad make them.

I used to create gun out of Lego, and I was quite good at it. I still have pictures of the Vietnam-era M16, M14, M1 Carbine, Uzi, MP40 and oddly even a Stryker shotgun, so yeah, I used to have some mad Lego skillz. In fact, I sort of miss my Legos.

I concur with Mantis. I remember back a few years ago when me and my friend had Lego cities and everytime we saw each other it was a diplomatic meeting, lol.

The best model I ever made was a Kirov Class Battlecruiser, but it had no hull and was flat and was black, grey, blue, and red.

EDIT:
I found a picture!

How man dollars was that worth of legos?

Every time I tried to make something there would be like 20 different lego colors since I never had a lot of one color.

$75. Each brick costed me 0.18 cents from Lego Factory.

Ah yes, Lego factory, where you could custom build whatever you wanted, good times.
