I don't know what you mean by "foreign crap" but I don't really think it is true. Just about every competing Foreign car company is more reliable than American companies. Porsche is the most reliable non-Japanese car company (ranked #8). Only recently have American companies started to become reliable and even then the quality is not as high as European and Japanese cars.
As far as luxury cars go American companies don't really even have a car to compete in that class. There is Cadillac but they don't even have any sedan that can truly compete with full size luxury cars. The same kind of applies for economy and entry level luxury cars. None of the companies make very many models better than a European or Japanese car in the same class.
They do better in sports cars. Both the Corvette and Viper are fast cars and are really good for their price. At the same time though the quality of them is not as nice. It's not that they are not reliable but it's just that for the price paid you would expect a higher quality interior.
I have nothing against American cars. I like Chevy and I will admit they are starting to make good cars. I just don't agree that they are any better than foreign cars. At the same time I think some foreign cars are worse than American cars.
I do agree Cash For Clunkers did not fail. It brought sales of American car companies higher up than they would be with out it. It was the first time in several years that they were actually running low on cars. (or at least lower than usual). Most of the cars sold had higher MPG than the cars traded in which might help a little in the long run.
I think he's just talking about how were buying cars made by foreign countries. When we could be buying amercan made cars made by amercian citizens.

The forums had the newly opened section for Mercs Inc, the most recently announced game to be worked on, as well as The Saboteur section being more active. Unfortunately they cocked up the latter since they have a seperate forum too, which is expectedly more active.
Nevertheless, there's every chance the forums will be up and running again sometime in the new year, i reckon.

It's a historic way to break the place. He managed to single handedly bring down the forum system of a multi-million dollar company, and it's been a week already, they still haven't fixed it. That's pretty significant.
The Pandemic forums were pretty small. I don't see why anyone is saying it is "historic."

30,000 members isn't really that much. It's small to medium. The forums were really not very big.
Do you really think this was "historic?" I mean for the whole internet? Even if the biggest forum in the world closed it wouldn't be that big of a deal for the whole internet.
If Gaia online (the forums) closed down (It has 20,000,000 users) or banned everyone that that still wouldn't be a big deal for the internet.

Alastor said himself the forums were terrible for multiple reasons. If the forums continued to use vBulletin none of this probably would have happened. The forums weren't secure at all to begin with really and it's actually kind of funny that they were shutdown by someone who is suppose to have access to things like that. I am surprised the forums were not taken down by a random person before this happened.
He took down a free forum that had a small amount of features and a large amount of security problems.

It should be easy to fix, but I don't think anyone that can fix it cares.

And it's actually a pain in the ass to fix. Have to mess with the servers. Essentially it's more effort than it's worth for a company that doens't exist anymore.
If the problem is that the entire IP range of the Internet was banned, isn't the obvious solution to clear the ban list, at least of IP bans?
This would mean that several notorious anti-social elements would temporarily be granted their jubilee, along with several minor nobodies, but that's why we kept stringent records of all moderation activities: remove the IP ban ranges to unban the Internet, and then reapply any and all IPs that are associated with reports of permabans in the Comedy Goldmine, or associated with named individuals in the banned list.
A tough cookie for Sledge alone, but his job - as an unbannable admin - would simply be the unbanning of the IP ranges. Once the moderating staff of Thrasher, Airstrike... and whoever else is still around are unbanned, they could take up the bulk of the rebanning of legacy truants.
Heck, with the job being too much for the volunteer mods we have left, it could be used as the perfect opportunity to enlist a few extra mods from the masses for the duration of the cleanup. They needn't be permanent members of the team, but it gives the masses the warm fuzzy feeling that they TOO can rise to the call of Modship when their Community needs them.
Problem fixed, good PR, and the temps get sent back to the members pool with an appreciation certificate.

Oh well. I almost like this place better.
The problem is Pandemic doesn't exist anymore and there is really no reason to fix the forums.
There's the mysterious kidney retained at EALA. Sledge tried to explain it as an element of Pandemic existing to continue Pandemic IP, but without the Pandemic identity, but maintaining the Pandemic logo... I couldn't quite wrap my head around it.
Despite the acknowledgments that yes, Pandemic no longer exists as an entity, he tried explaining what sounded as if it's continue to be an acknowledged presence in future projects.
A shame I can't pull up his exact words anymore :P

It sucked, I still can't fully extend it all the way yet. Hopefully I can get full range back with physical therapy. I also might be able to graduate at the end of this semester.

Glad to hear it. I fractured my arm in 3 spots when I was in kindergarten. Had a cast all the way up past my elbow for a few months and had to write with my left hand.

You and Ally are the pinnacle of cynical when it comes to Pandemic :P
Yeah sure, they've undergone some horrible decision making in recent history and went from a really impressive upstart to just a brick in the EA wall, but some iota of what respectability they started off with still exists. That iota of respectability is why The Saboteur, a "you're fired, finish the project" was at least a fun farewell, and not a half-butted throw away, filled with debilitating bugs and barely any cohesion.
Granted, The Saboteur does have issues with its PC version, but that's just par for the course as far as Pandemic's latest PC ports are concerned.
Though I still don't understand the situation perfectly, even with VC's explanation, I do know that iota will remain with Pandemic, so long as some form of Pandemic exists.

This weeks been awesome. Monday was the first day after christmas break. It was a normal day. Tuesday and wednesday were snowdays. Today we got out early and tommorow school is cancelled. :D

Pandemic Studios does not exist anymore; they have been integrated into EALA. There is almost no reason to bring the forums back because EA has their own forums.

My guitar amp (giant speaker = giant magnet) happened to be right next to my computer. Magnets kill computers... so... yeah...I am on this piece-of-shit-excuse-for-a-computer until I get another hard drive.
Also my dog ate the cord that connects guitar to amp. So that has to be replaced as well.

I mean it was actually touching it. For about 3 days.
To make matters worse, we decided to keep the dog in the bathroom (instead of cage, wounded puppy in there) today, while we'd be away. I come home to find that the dog (same one that ate guitar cable) had somehow turned on the sink. It has been on from sometime between 8am and 3pm. Hall ruined. Bathroom, ruined. Shit in the garage? Ruined.
Got at least $1000+ damage already. And we haven't gone through an 8th of the stuff in the garage.. Ugh.

Until such a time when any disc manufactured from any company can work with any disc player manufactured by any company, gaming will Never become more than a really popular hobby. Until you can create a game without having to worry about competing markets between the console monopolies; until you can walk into the store and buy any game at random, without even studying it, and know that it will work in your game player without worrying about compatibility or the risk of it becoming obsolete within five years, it will never be as big as music and movies.
The mainstream nature of games today is still very shallow. More and more people are playing video games, people you would, ten years ago, never expect to take gaming seriously, true. It excites me to see someone in position and authority talk gaming, but it disheartens me when they rarely, if ever, deviate far from Calls of Duty and Worlds of Warcraft.
It's like, if you can imagine, a world where music really hasn't caught on, and it's an exciting time in which people are just coming to accept music as a legitimate form of entertainment for all ages, but the general public is still discovering and fixated on Hannah Montana, and you have to buy either Sony-brand music players or one of their competitors, and their CDs are incompatible with each others' music players.
And then Sony goes and introduces another media format to play music, and insists that you replace your music collection with the new format, post haste.
And then a portable music player with it's own unique media format to play the exact same Hannah Montana music on the go.

I've had the ps2 since about 4 months after a came out and still play it back then in those years was when i would just like you save up my allowance to usually by at the tops 6 games a year and i would always completly play them out before I ever though of selling them.

High school sucked for me too. Bullying and all that crap, + i was in a failing school that was in 'special measures', whatever the hell that means. I came out fine in the end though, and i'm sure you will.
Just soak up every experiance cause it'll help build you as an individual, whether it seems hard and frustrating at the time.

And of course, most importantly:
-Being the MOST CONSISTENT politician in DC in his views, only changing one view in the last several decades, that being his opinion on the Federal Death Penalty.
