Pandemic doesn't make you shy. You're killing yourself by not getting it over with though. All that time you spend wondering could be time with her or time worrying about something else.

Take my word for it. Don't accept "I can't."

I guess I am just naturally shy. That and the fact I have no idea what I can talk about with girls that we would both find interesting is what screws me over. Don't say music, because that will end in a huge metal vs rap argument.

It's not like I don't know any of the girls I want to ask out. A couple of them used to be good friends of mine in 8th grade. But toward the end of the 9th grade we kind of just stopped talking to each other. Now I can't really come up with a reason to talk to them again without seeming creepy.

I know I'm making a big deal out of it. I really don't want to make a big deal out of it. But I just feel any girl I try to talk to is gonna think I'm creepy unless she specifically wants to talk to me, which they don't.

Now we should probably stop talking about this shit before everyone from Pandy comes and starts yelling at me.

I'm sorta not surprised though. After two mediocre games and a third that's years late of the production line, I can't say I blame EA for what happened. This was the cause of bad management and bad oversight by EA.

I don't hate against drinking or smoking. I do consider them classy, as harmful as smoking may be. I might not smoke or drink, but I'm not indignant about it. Heck, I'm thinking of carrying a back of cigarettes around just for the benefit of those who do partake.

Drugs though, yeah, I'll be indignant if it's my close friend; otherwise, it's too prevalent for me to care.

Taep, the gist of what I was trying to say is that the "straight edge" culture and mentality is the utmost example of conformity. If you don't want to drink, smoke or consume, that's fine. You're in good company.

I've come close on a few occassions, but have never actually done it - nor have I smoked.

But drinking is a different matter altogether. I can't not drink when I go out to clubs or whatever; I don't understand how you can't, 'cos it's all part of having a good time if you ask me. You know, 'loosening up' and all that.

Oh yeah, I see it all the time at parties and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tempting - you know, just for experimental purposes. There have in fact been times, when I've had quite a lot to drink and haven't been thinking straight, that I've come very close to trying drugs and/or smoking. About a century or two ago, the Pope decided that all the Jewish people had to leave Rome. Naturally, there was a big uproar from the Jewish community.

So, the Pope made a deal. He would have a religious debate with a member of the Jewish community. If the representative won, the Jews could stay. If the Pope won, the Jews would leave. The Jews realized that they had no choice. They looked around for a champion who could defend their faith, but no one wanted to volunteer. It was too risky. So, in desperation, they finally picked an old man named Moishe, who spent his life sweeping up after people, to represent them. Being old and poor, he had less to lose, so he agreed. He asked only for one condition to the debate. Not being used to saying very much as he cleaned up around the settlement, he asked that neither side be allowed to talk. The Pope agreed.

The day of the great debate came. Moishe and the Pope sat opposite each other for a full minute before the Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers. Moishe looked back at him and raised his index finger. The Pope waved his hand in a circle around his head. Moishe pointed to the ground where he sat. The Pope pulled out a communion wafer and a glass of wine. Moishe pulled out an apple.

The Pope stood up and announced, "I give up. This man is too good. The Jews may stay.'

An hour later, the cardinals were all around the Pope asking him what happened. The Pope said, "First, I held up three fingers to represent the Trinity. He responded by holding up one finger to remind me that there was still one God common to both our religions. Then, I waved my hand around me to show him that God above was all around us. He responded by pointing to the ground, showing that God was also right here with us, in our midst. I offered the wine and the wafer to show that God absolves us from our sins. He pulled out an apple to remind me of original sin. He had an answer for everything. What could I do?"

Meanwhile, the Jewish community had crowded around Moishe, amazed that this old, somewhat feeble man had done what all their scholars had insisted was impossible! "What happened?", they asked. "Well," said Moishe, "first he said to me that the Jews had three days to get out of the city. I told him that not one of us was leaving. Then, he told me that this whole city must be cleared of Jews! I let him know that we were staying right here." "And then?" asked a woman. "I really don't know," said Moishe. "He took out his lunch, so I took out mine."

I'll admit that I am not the biggest supporter of the war but I do agree with sending more troops in this case. The mistake in the first place was possibly not sending enough troops to handle the situation. The more power and influence you have in a country the faster a war ends and in theory the safer the troops are.

I mean really what other choices do you have?

Withdraw all the troops? That would just mean everything that happened in the past was (in a way) a waste of time and nothing was really accomplished.

Keep the same amount of troops there? This might work but it would cost the lives a lot more troops and would make the war take longer.

Adding more troops isn't going to guarantee success and I do see why people are against it but what else is there to do? That is the problem. It's easy to criticize something and say it is a bad idea but it's hard to come up with a better idea. People can talk all day about something being terrible but what they should really be talking about is coming up with a better plan.

The questions now is will this war be possible to win?

Before Obama was elected Canada didn't know what they were going to do in Afghanistan. Only after Obama was elected did the Canadian government finally decide for sure they were leaving in 2011. Canada is a major presence in southern Afghanistan. So Obama has to increase troops levels to compensate for the Canadians and whoever else is leaving. We don't have 30,000 troops there because that's almost our entire military though.

Agrees. The US have invested so much in Afghanistan that they can't really just back out. It would be interesting to see how this unfolds in the coming year. The original US led campaign pushed militants towards Pakistan, who wasn't really doing much at the time. Now that the Pakistanis have decided to openly engage the Taliban, many people believe that it naturally forced militants back into Afghanistan.

Now, you gotta understand that, now that he knows what exactly is going on in the world, he wants to act according to that.

I, for one, am glad to be going to Afghanistan, purely because that's where we need to be and that's the right place to be. The Taliban and Al-Qaeda have been maintaining their strength while we focused heavily on reconstructing Iraq; now that we've cleared through Iraq, trained their police, and turned over the defense of their country to themselves, why not dedicate more strength to knocking out the war we've bee fighting since before Iraq?

Taep, don't drink the military Kool-Aid my friend.

Do you really think we're improving the average Afghan or Waziristani lifestyle? By doing what? Giving them another decade of war? The Taliban is what the people want. They don't want our drones, they don't want our tanks. They don't want our instability. Whenever your military is in a place where the native population doesn't want it, you become the oppressor. And that's exactly what the US and NATO forces are - the oppressors.

Sure, it may be in the name of freedom, or whatever, but we're still imposing our will on the Afghan people.

Which leads us to another unanswered question: Why are we there in the first place? There are less than 100 "Al Qaeda" fighters in the entire country of Afghanistan. Why bother pursuing such a small group? It's simple: we want an oil pipeline.

The relationship between fossil fuels and Afghanistan has been written about extensively, just not that much by me. Afghanistan, a landlocked country, has essentially negligible petrochemical resources, but there are vast oil and natural gas fields in Central Asia to the north, notably in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. Getting those fuels to American, Western European, and even Asian markets requires vast pipelines. - Alan Bock, Antiwar.com

The main idea? America and NATO want to stay in Afghanistan to build pipelines from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan without passing through Russia or Iran. This would only be possible with an American satellite state in the region. Hello, Afghanistan.

And that is why we're still there. That's probably what this was all about in the first place. They could've had special forces go after Bin Laden, who was rejected by the Taliban anyway. But no, they needed a full-scale war. Why? As stated above, it's for an oil pipeline.

The country is unstable with or without us. There is more to Afghanistan than fighting. What goes on in that country affects the U.S. economy and crime rate. (Poppy fields)

You act as if Afghanistan was totally different before the U.S. entered it. Before the U.S. entered fighting still occurred between opposing groups just like it does in the country today. It's really not very different at all.

Which leads us to another unanswered question: Why are we there in the first place? There are less than 100 "Al Qaeda" fighters in the entire country of Afghanistan. Why bother pursuing such a small group? It's simple: we want an oil pipeline.

You counted? Someone actually walked through the entire country and counted? 100 people are really able to do that much damage to the most powerful country in the world? When was the last time the United States invaded a country for oil? The amount of money spent on the war would negate any profit made from the oil. Afghanistan is a land locked country which makes it even worse. Unocal proposed the idea of a pipeline in the 1990's. That is a public company that is not owned by the government.

The main idea? America and NATO want to stay in Afghanistan to build pipelines from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan without passing through Russia or Iran. This would only be possible with an American satellite state in the region. Hello, Afghanistan.

Oil companies build pipelines not the U.S. government.

And that is why we're still there. That's probably what this was all about in the first place. They could've had special forces go after Bin Laden, who was rejected by the Taliban anyway. But no, they needed a full-scale war. Why? As stated above, it's for an oil pipeline.

So what you are saying is that they could have created a stable country, spent billions of dollars less, and built a pipeline that would have allowed them to profit but they didn't? Yeah that sounds believable. Not to mention the fact the US government isn't an oil company.

The relationship between fossil fuels and Afghanistan has been written about extensively, just not that much by me. Notice the website - "Antiwar.com"

Now read this quote:

An area of shale and other rock in North Dakota and Montana is estimated to hold the largest potential oil resources in the 48 contiguous states, according to an assessment released Thursday by the United States Geological Survey.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/11/us/11oil.html

So the U.S. invaded Afghanistan for oil when there might be 3 to 4.3 billion barrels (126,000,000,000 gallons) of oil on their own land? Not only that but it would be cheaper to ship, create a lot of jobs in their own country, and decrease the United State's dependence on foreign oil.

Don't get me completely wrong here guys. No, we would not be taking the kind of casualties we are from less than 100 guys. Even if it is Afghanistan.

All I'm saying is that the reason we went into Afghanistan hardly even exists anymore - they've all left. So why bother? Stabilize a country which hasn't been stable for hundreds of years? Good luck with that. I don't care whose military you're using, you're not gonna do that.

This is a country that survives based on corruption and the drug trade. Why get our hands dirty in that?

We need to wash our hands of this shit and save American lives. No more blood needs to be on our conscience. If we leave, fighting will continue and the Taliban will come to power once again.

If we stay, dozens, maybe hundreds, more Americans will die. The question is: for what?

The president may think it's worth it but it's already been 8 years. It is my opinion that we should pull out before the shit really hits the fan. We're just providing 30,000 more targets for the Taliban.

Civilians that would rather stick to their traditions than embrace a corrupt 'democracy' which exists to serve the United States.

There are many crazy conspiracies regarding Afghanistan, most of which aren't true. But as far as I can tell, this is 'another Vietnam' and escalating it won't accomplish what they want you to think it will.

The surge in Iraq didn't even work - we paid off people to not be violent for certain periods of time. That's why there was a reduction in violence there.

We're repeating the same strategy here.

I don't buy into the 'America is the exalted nation, justified in all of its overseas endeavours' BS. People practically fucking worship the troops and their generals. We're a militarist society and our economy is partially based on the weapons manufacturers and as such, we find places for perpetual warfare.

A British general said we may be in Afghanistan for forty more years. Sure, this is providing the violence calms down and we can set up bases like we did in Germany, Japan, and Korea. But really?

Sorry, I've rambled enough. Back to the conspiracy theories thing. Has anyone heard of the Project for a New American Century? PNAC founders were high-level officials in the Bush administration. Before they worked with Bush, they founded a think tank called the Project for a New American Century. This set up goals for how America could keep its superpower status in a new century.

Here's a short video describing it:

Again, just a theory as to what's going on, but it's worth looking into.

you people need to get your heads out of your asses, this is real life, not a video game. there is no counter on the side of a screen, no list of targets that we can just cross off. the art of war does not lie in numbers, does not lie in morals, war is a dance. complex in ways you or I cannot even imagine.

tell me, honestly what you think goes into... say... a troop movement order?

another thing, the people that set up the ieds and take pot shots at american troops are people. they don't just slink into the shadows after their job is done, they go home, into whatever little shit hole hovel they live in, they might have families, they have lives, they were raised to what they are today, not grown in a fish tank and activated to bomb something.
so when you think it is simply a matter of taking enough lives so there are no more enemies, you are dead wrong.

lastly, ill give you some statistics for deaths in the world for roughly the last 300 days.

14,750,612 people died of heart disease. ie: being fat. that's 14 MILLION
6,408,451 people died of cancer, probably the one thing on this list we can do nothing about. again that's million.
3,264,792 died of lung disease, mostly from smoking cigarettes, first or second hand.
1,734,589 died due to digestive disorders
979,133 died of brain diseases or strokes.
868,077 human beings died of diabetes

now for diseases you can get from other people

2,734,371 died of HIV/aids
1,649,779 died of diar-fucking-rhea
1,381,755 died of tuberculosis
oh, a fun one, out of 50,182,850 only 5,850 have died of swine flu. 593 in the USA and over 2,500 in south america.

now for the other shit

1,050,358 people died of traffic accidents.
345,539 fell to their deaths.
336,999 drowned.
308,982 were poisoned in some way.
274,950 DIAF (died in a fire)
other more random accidents claimed a good 813,313

now for the shit people do

there were 770,590 suicides in the world.
492,658 died on violent crimes.
and, our favorite, war took 151,017 lives. not a whole not in comparison yes?

and last but not least STARVATION KILLED 427,515.

so in the long (or short) run, sending a few thousand more troops into Afghanistan will help us get to the more important shit, alright?

I'm only 14 and Obamas already screwing me and my money. I have some money in the bank and I was looking at my bank statements. The interest rate has gone done because he thinks he can print a shitload of money and nothing will happen.

Obama isn't the one who prints money. The government doesn't choose how much money to print. It is all basically supply and demand. If more people take their money out of banks then the government prints more money. The more money the banks lend to people the more money the government prints. If the banks need paper money the government prints it.

All the government does besides print it is regulate how much is printed (limit how much is allowed to be printed). That is the job of the Federal Reserve and Ben Bernanke is chairman of the federal reserve. He was also originally nominated by George W. Bush.

obama doesn't print money, its the federal reserve.
the federal reserve is printing money to destroy the value of the dollar, when the dollar is useless they will use political influence to form the North American Union (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Union) with a new, more valuable currency, the amero.
