Do not attempt to "outsmart" the question. This isn't a riddle. It's designed to help discover our nature. Answer the question the way it is intended.

If a new medicine were created that would cure arthritis but would cause a fatal reaction in 1% of the population that took it, would you want it released to the public?

It happens all the time. Why do you think they have all those warning labels on the meds we take now?

Although 1% is a pretty high percentage and arthritis isn't life threatening. So, I suppose it would be better if it were improved so it would only take out assholes with arthritis.

You know, the "get off my lawn you lousy kids" guy.

I avoid medicines as much as possible regardless of the percentage for this very reason. Far too often do medicines and other common, beneficial items end up under scrutiny, long after the fact, for suddenly killing off a class of preschoolers or a nursing home.

Too many complications are allowed to pass as it is, and stuff that either was supposed to stay hidden or completely unexpected end up appearing long after it's become a common household name.

Will this be released? Oh, definitely. They'd release it with a 3% fatality rate, no problems. It would, after all, kill arthritis. All you'd need is another drug to counteract the fatality. Every aspect of the business is happy.

Sure, release it to the public. There will be a warning label on it though. If you know the risks and take the medicine, it is your fault for what happens to you.

Yes, but only as a last-resort prescription for the most severe cases.
